Use in a Sentence

Build context around a word by saying or writing an original sentence.

Purpose

Build context around a word by saying or writing an original sentence.

Prepare your deck

Choose a deck or collect words. Review unfamiliar meanings before starting.

Recommended timer: Off. Select entries, choose prepared or shuffled order, and review notes before starting. All settings are editable in the workspace.

Run the activity

  1. Choose a deck or collect words. Review unfamiliar meanings before starting.
  2. Select Use in a Sentence and choose prepared or shuffled order. Leave the timer off for thoughtful discussion.
  3. Start, then Reveal the first word. Say or write a sentence that uses its selected meaning.
  4. Choose Finish & Next after the sentence, or Skip to set a difficult entry aside. Continue until Session Complete.

An example

For “umbrella,” try “I opened my umbrella when the first drops of rain fell.” Ask what the sentence tells us about the object.

Variations and printing

Use a short timer for fluency practice, or turn it off and compare several sentences. Print the sentence worksheet to leave writing space beside each entry.

Useful packs

Sessions save a fixed snapshot. Editing a source deck does not change a running activity. Resume returns covered and paused; starting a new activity requires ending or resuming the existing one.
